Full Winter Cycling Training
Winter cycling Training begins in November
Use a structured winter cycling training plan to ensure you are ready for the start of the new season.
Every week taken off from cycling, you need about three weeks to get back in the same condition . So at the end of each season, try not to take off too much time from cycling. A week and a half to two weeks off is reasonable. In any case put the bike away for this period and do something completely different, maybe tennis or golf or something to keep active.
Get completely away from cycling to give yourself a total physical and mental break. The second week, you can ride a restricted amount of hours to build back gradually.
At this time you can supplement your cycling with other sports, like cyclocross, to maintain power and cardiovascular fitness. Continue to ride but do a reduced schedule and fewer days per week than during the season.
The most important thing in winter is to get a mental break from training while maintaining your form. Fitness Maintenance is the key. Try and keep the same rhythm during the season but for shorter durations.
