Adjust front derailleur by ensuring the correct alignment with your front chainring.
A maladjusted front derailleur can ruin a ride or worse throw or jam your chain and ruin your derailleur.
There are some basic steps that keep your derailleur performing in top condition.

Align the front derailleur outer cage with the large chain ring

Set the gap of the front derailleur outer cage and the large chainring between 1.5 – 3mm

Set the inner limit screw while the front derailleur cable is loose

After tightening the derailleur cable adjust the tension as necessary using the barrel adjuster and confirm the function of the shift to the large chainring

Set the outer limit screw after shifting to the large chain ring
Confirm the function of the shift before using your bike.
